This painting is called “The Spirit of Remembrance; Sankofa coming forth by Day”, it tells the story of the Sankofa Bird, and describes the principle it represents. Sankofa literally meanings, to look back and remember. It’s all about appreciating the treasures of the past and what you have been given.
It was commission by Cameron Duodu for his story story “How our Elders would have coped with Dums”.
