The Three Peaks

  • Thomas Clement

The ‘Three Peaks’ is a well-known term among explorers, outdoor enthusiasts, and mountain climbers which refers to the three tallest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales. I wanted to work with a brand that provides outdoor clothing for explorers, hikers, and outdoor enthusiasts to promote ‘The National Three Peaks Challenge’, a prestigious event where participants attempt to climb all three mountains within 24 hours. The brand I chose was The North Face. I aimed to deliver images suitable to advertise both The Three Peaks Challenge and the North Face brand itself. I used acrylic paint on stretched canvas to paint the mountains and combined the artwork with digitally created topography elevation lines of each area. The idea is to ‘inspire exploration’, one of The North Face’s key brand values. The Three Peaks are: Ben Nevis (1,345 m or 4,413 ft), the highest mountain in Scotland. Scafell Pike (978 m or 3,209 ft), the highest mountain in England. Snowdon Yr Wyddfa (1,085 m or 3,560 ft), the highest mountain in Wales.
