Toolbox

  • Lucas Ferguson

As a designer we are told to design for everyone an not just yourself but for this side project I did the exact opposite. Toolbox is an app that provides a virtual ‘toolbox’ for students who’s struggle with dyslexia or academic difficulties which may impact the way they learn. Dyslexic people tend to be very visual learners and the concept have come up with reflects this through illustrations and iconography. I have used a dyslexic friendly typeface that is well spaced out and easier to read. The toolbox contains various tips, tricks and resources that allow students to make use of in order to make their studies that bit easier. These are all assistive technologies such as a font changer on documents and dictate functions that seem small but can make a huge difference. By having all these tools in one app it means students can have quick and easy access to resources when needed.
