By definition, prostheses are those pieces or artificial devices that are added in a body in order to replace an organ or a missing part of it. A breast prosthesis will replace the shape of the breast? Will it replace the fear of looking at a scar and not seeing what is wanted? Will it replace the privacy with the couple? Will it replace the acceptance of others? Sometimes, countless efforts are spent in order to find the best technologies to replace the physical emptiness that leaves the loss of a part of the body. But sometimes, this persecution makes people forget about the importance that the emotional emptiness that is also left due to a loss of this caliber. Nowadays, when replacing a mastectomized breast by a prosthesis, the ultimate goal is the aesthetics of women. Often, it is talked about a lost femininity that needs to be recovered or a skin that needs to have two breasts to be herself again and not to lose identity. However, little attention is given in order to understand the new context and if there are other ways to coddle the woman and to help her loving and accepting her new natural body shape. Today, there is not yet in the market a bra designed for all those skins that have lost a breast because of breast cancer. They are women who want to close cycles, be able to stare her selves at a mirror and look beautiful; sometimes, they are women who, for whatever reason, cannot or do not want to go through surgery again and rebuild their chest. Traient Pit is a piece designed for all these women. Women struggling day by day to stare their selves at the mirror and realize that they are so beautiful, just being them. Women who deserve to get designs according to the model of body that has lost a chest. Thus, Traient Pit is a textile product which is able to accompany women, who have suffered from breast cancer and lost a breast, during the process of acceptance of the new shape of her own body, by taking the replacement of the emotional emptiness, generated by this loss, as a subject of study.
