Unknown Quantities 12

  • Isabella Millett

Editor, Curator and Designer for Unknown Quantities, a publication in collaboration with Central Saint Martins. Unknown Quantities 12 centres on the theme of Lost and Found. This edition includes a collection of work which critically engages with the implications of the words Lost and Found through contributors’ explorations of impermanence, transience and the often overlooked. As Lost and Found implies a space to hold objects that have been misplaced, the journal, too, positions itself as a space of temporary custodianship of what is held within it, bringing together contributors from Nigeria, China, Palestine, Republic of the Congo, UK and US. In this undisciplined space, art, critical theory, storytelling, and design fuse and inform each other, offering many paths of association between these different counter-narratives. Each piece contributes to a dialogue on what it means to lose and to find, highlighting the contemporary urgency to reflect upon what we preserve and protect, whilst revealing the resistive connections and collectivity that might emerge from doing so. Distributed at Magculture, Bookartbookshop, BOOKS Peckham and more.
