2018/2019 - Onaria Technologies - The world’s first digital plaque detector for your teeth. It is made up of a mobile app and a "lens" that slides over your smartphone camera, enabling you to visualise plaque and detailed information about your dental health, track your progress and show you how to get your teeth looking the best they can. _ While I was working at Special Projects our team was tasked to create an identity for the founders of uunn which would humanise this potentially stigmatising activity of keeping track of your plaque at home - the name and logo demonstrate the playfulness which combats any potential anxiety users might encounter, the teeth in the logo hinting at the attitude of the founders to learning a new skill: it should be fun, entertaining and rewarding. The logo and name had been chosen and my role was to develop the visual language the brand would use to communicate across their app and packaging. My role entailed creating moodboards, colour palettes, choosing fonts, visualising app screens, creating instructional illustrations, developing an iconography suite and packaging design. I explored visual ways of showing users they are 'in the zone' and created a circular graphic inspired by a target. Playful animations act as mini-tutorials and teach the user how to get ‘in the zone’, reducing the plaque on their teeth with new brushing and flossing techniques. These are infused with a sense of childlike wonder, and entertain the user whilst demonstrating how they can improve their dental care, enhancing what can be a mundane and tedious experience. - Company: Special Projects Creative Director: Clara Gaggero Westaway Lead Designer: Catalina Larkins Design & 3D Rendering: Matteo Bandi User Experience: Alexa Munch
