Inspired by the power of independent publishing and its roots in DIY zine culture, WAX Magazine raises the voices of the UK’s most exciting upcoming musicians who have not yet been given a platform by mainstream media. With a clean and fresh approach to design, WAX draws on the aesthetic of culture and music publications throughout the last few decades, from 70s Punk zines to current independently published magazines, creating a captivating visual identity for the platform which can engage a wide range of readers from the independent music community in Bristol and beyond. In my role as Art Director and Lead Photographer, I designed the visual layout of the publication and photographed several of its artist features, as well as commissioning photographers and stylists to create imagery which complements the features written by others on the Wax team.
