Yaya Xu is an NYC-based visual artist and motion designer from Nanjing, China. She began her journey as a character animator, and then went on to receive her MFA in Computer Arts from the School of Visual Arts, specializing in Motion Graphics. Before joining Mother Design, Yaya worked with Sagmeister & Walsh, GB65 and many others. She has developed an integrated understanding of branding, fine art, fashion and film. Creating dynamic visual languages for brands like 7up, Frooti Fizz, Miu Miu, Tory Burch, Kendrick Lamar, HSBC and Vice. She prides herself in pushing boundaries to create innovative and emotionally engaging experiences. Her short films explore the instability of human cognition and people’s lives. She loves contemporary art as much as she loves food.
