Unicef Next Generation is publishing a book of poetry to raise funds and awareness for the Children’s Emergency Fund which protects children around the world affected by war and natural disasters. Words By is a collection of poems which will bring together writers from all walks of life, uniting their diverse voices and providing a platform for their personal expression.
Thank you for considering submitting to Words By. The aim of Words By is to normalise the term ‘refugee’. It is sadly all too common for refugees and displaced people to be considered ‘the other.’ We wanted to create a book that challenges that and are publishing poems and words given to us by refugees alongside contributions from established writers, wordsmiths and members of the London community. The idea is, anyone has a shot of being published in this amazing collection.
So, what are we looking for? Just words. We know it’s a skill being a writer, but we also believe everyone has it in them. The beautiful thing about creating with words is that there are no rules. We would love for your contribution to reflect our theme ‘identity’ and we want the words to feel right for you. Whether your contribution is a lyric, a sentence, a poem or a limerick, we welcome your submissions with enthusiasm. Good Luck!
