About me

Originally from Gloucestershire I am passionate about nature and enjoy bringing aspects of my roots into my work. I enjoy creating 3D typography and working with different materials and textures. I have a strong interest in conceptual art and design making me extremely passionate about every piece of my work either having an obvious or underlying meaning/relevance behind it. During my time at university I have been taught that inventiveness is key and too shy away from the ordinary. Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ballingerdesign/

  • Bacardi Twelve
Bacardi TwelveBacardi Twelve is a new Instagram campaign designed to grasp the attention of potential and already existing Music and Bacardi enthusiasts all year round. To achieve this Bacardi Twelve has incorporated the most current, popular music artists which capture the Caribbean party spirit with Bacardi’s existing cocktail recipes. We believe this too advertise Bacardi as a brand by encouraging music fans to recreate the music artist of the months, favourite cocktail. Each post contains the element of a
  • Home Home
Home HomeHome Home is a collection of textural photographs which remind me of home, Gloucestershire. The title is based upon the everyday confusion my London friends have when I’m talking about Home as now home for me is London and Home Home is where I grew up, my family live and where I go to get away from the London rush.
  • The Balcony - Catfish and the Bottlemen
The Balcony - Catfish and the BottlemenThis Vinyl cover was designed for the album The Balcony by Catfish and the Bottlemen. I wanted to create something completely the opposite to their original packaging design for a limited edition feel. The colour palette was decided from the concept of pond water. The use of plaster resin created a mould from real fish eyes as a window of texture inside the cover to view the interior vinyl.
  • Noughts & Crosses - Penguin
Noughts & Crosses - PenguinNoughts and Crosses is a teen fiction by Malorie Blackman based upon racism, love and war. It focuses on the split between two communities being the Noughts who are white and the Crosses who are black. In the book, the Crosses are powerful and stronger and the Noughts the opposite. I used the visual of roses to represent the love aspect of the book as well as a racial difference metaphoric meaning, showing that the Crosses overpower the Noughts. The accents of red typography is to resemble the pain and suffering within the book.
  • Scope - Interdisciplinary Design Project
Scope - Interdisciplinary Design ProjectScope is a new and beneficial charity based brand which aims to target the homeless population of Britain with an innovative idea. Scope is an easily accessible banking system which is hosted within all current banking systems, such as Santander, Lloyds, HSBC and so on. The idea is a homeless banking system where people are able to save small amounts of money in return for a 33.3% interest rate being added to their savings. As well as this they are entered into a prize draw every month for the chance to win rewards like food tokens, hotel rooms and haircuts. We hope these rewards will encourage the homeless population to save and eventually work their way back up the housing ladder and into a brighter future. The Logo is designed from a combination of growth and money visualised in the simple line drawing of a leaf shoot which signifies the brands leading aim. The colour palette was chosen in order to catch the attention of those in need as well as people that want to give. We chose green as the primary colour to represent growth and health and the yellow to create a positive and bold statement. The idea behind the advertisement and info-graphic posters was to enable the brand to show the general public the bleak outlook of a homeless person’s point of view. This is showcased in the form of 8 posters which can be show separately or as a whole campaign with the use of a panoramic image connecting each of them together.
  • Recorded by Nature
Recorded by NatureThe Original brief for this piece of work was to show how time can walk among us and portray this in a calendar month format. My Concept is Strata, most commonly known as Rock Layering. I chose this subject as my platform because it is a natural representation and preservation of time dating back to billions of years ago. I experimented with different materials which are the outcome of rock being an ingredient in their production such as silica and salt, and ended up using these as my typographic source.
