Shortlisted// The World Illustration Awards celebrate the most inspiring work being made by illustrators all over the world today. This high-profile competition is judged by distinguished professionals from the global illustration industry. Whilst the award is used to identify current trends and finding undiscovered talent. Judges comments on my work 'Alfie’s drawings have a lovely freedom of line and mark making, and are imbued with a restrained, but very real and present, sense of humour. The tenderness and love between the people and trees in his art is a joy to see, and conveys his sensitivity to current and future issues around deforestation perfectly.' Ben Norland and Julia Thompson, Walker Books My entry was a 32-page children's book that humanises the difficult issue of deforestation and encourages children to think about how they would feel and what they might do.
