  • Unconventional Magazine Issue and Article
Unconventional Magazine Issue and ArticleThis project focuses on the less popular, out-of-the-ordinary destinations such as Pyongyang, North Korea. The imagery on the front cover is intended to capture the notion of an unconventional and raw, yet authentic, adventure - in contrast to the relatively pampered experience of modern day travel. The inner spread is the introduction page to an article which addresses a tourist’s view of Pyongyang. The type and photography treatment are intended to symbolise the Western perception that North Korea is censored and fragmented, despite continued failed attempts by its leadership to frame the city and the country in a positive light.
  • Love Music Hate Racism Uplift
Love Music Hate Racism UpliftConcept 1: LMHR promotes a united mixture of cultures. This final concept is influenced by substantial and forceful symbols. It represents the strength, unity and durability of the campaign and supports rising against racism and nationalist political parties. Concept 2: LMHR follows the attitude of the Rock Against Racism movement of the late 1970s. Concept 2 is inspired by the 70s era and by rock artists such as Green Day, Basement Jaxx, and The View. The letters are distorted and eroded but work together to give one overall message. Concept 3: Love Music Hate Racism is an opportunity for society to get involved with anti-racist and anti-fascist activities. This first concept illustrates that LMHR is a platform for many people to voice their opinion and be heard.
  • Juniper Joint
Juniper JointAs part of a brief to design a small business identity and logo, I chose to develop a concept for a new gin bar in the Northern Quarter of Manchester. The target customers for the bar would either be typical, discerning gin lovers with a good knowledge about the process and the different types of gin - or those who are simply looking to relax and enjoy a high-end experiential atmosphere. Either way - the key focus is on the gin itself. With that in mind I based my design on simplistic yet immersive gin concepts, drawing on the botanical ingredients and copper machinery and tubing used for the distillation process - as well as 1940s cultural references to gin.
  • The British Film Festival - Fairytales
The British Film Festival - FairytalesThe brief for this student project was to create a leaflet (with related collateral materials) for the British Film Festival for five fairytale films to be exhibited during 2017. In developing this concept, I sought to capture an engaging and playful visual experience by creating a modern spin on classic fairytale symbology. For these purposes, I included eye catching, bold and colourful illustrations and drew on the use of layers, silhouettes and pop art. I also placed separate and proportionate focus on each silhouette, such that they could be used on a stand-alone basis within other materials, including on merchandise packaging, promotional products and on social media and via mobile Apps etc.

  • Mercury Logistics
Mercury LogisticsIn creating an end of year report for a large-scale delivery company, I wanted to place focus on three topics: 1) the nature of the work being undertaken to give it relevance to the reader (including through the use of barcode-style type-face); 2) the brand values with which this company would like to be associated, by creating a sense of efficiency, urgency, globality and customer satisfaction; and 3) the intention of the report itself, by stylistically placing emphasis on certain key themes and data.
