Hi! Does anyone have tips/inspiration for writing an introductory email to pitch myself as a freelance junior creative to potential contacts

I am looking to create a template for a general email I can send to potential clients asking about opportunities. I want it to be quick witted with personality but also professional. If any freelancers are just starting out and want to go into content creation/copywriting who have something similar please help a girl out :)

  • Hi Ellen

I’ve created some specific free tools that help people through the whole personal selling process which you can download here…

  • Think of the first part of your question as a creative brief from a potential contact.

If you are positioning yourself as a creative, is a general email template the most impactful way of communicating?

Reading the second part, some of the spelling stood out.

As a copywriter you will need to either correct or use this to your advantage.

I remember seeing a sign that read ‘Wet Paynt’.

Ok, that’s not how you spell paint, but it really got my attention and I still remember it.
  • Hey Ellen, my advice would be:

-achknowledge the business of the reader
-be you/ human - don't be a robot, and don't try to be cooky/ zaney
    -be clear
    -be concise
    -flatter
    -state what you want
-tell them why it's of value

    For example:

    Hey Ellen,

I know you're busy. So, I'll keep it short.

    My names X, I'm a Y.

    I love what you're doing at X.

'This-specific-project-name' really caught my attention. I love how it X.

I'm looking for an opportunity to X.

    I'm VALUABLE-TO-YOU-IN-THIS-SPECIFIC-WAY.

Can I tempt you into a taking a bit further?

    Kind regards,
    Elliott.
