I’m applying for a design job, not an OnlyF_ns account

This is quite a kern-cerning question in the design sector, what does your sexual orientation, have to do with using Adobe software.

Seriously the design/creative sector should be ashamed of itself.

  • It's for when AI has taken all of the design jobs and you have to resort the oldest profession - basically Adobe will pimp you out and it's much easier just to know your orientation and preferences.

Serioulsy though, if you need to undertand diversity you need to measure it - how any company actually deals with it is likely down to workplace culture rather than stats - and you do have rights in terms of privacy under GDPR regulation for information that any company collects and stores.... and you are more likely to be able to point the finger and say discrimination if this information is captured and somehow used for screening applicants.

Most people probably don't care much about sexual orienation - it's class and race that is far more problematic. In an ideal world you wouldn't need to worry about this - but so many workplaces have a serious imbalance across numerous categroisations. What else did they ask? - very odd if there was nothing.
  • @Dominic Livingston Isn’t asking those types of question(s) tend to lead to discrimination as it gives a profile of candidate, could be an advantage to an employer choose a candidate over a preference they prefer.
…And also it’s an inappropriate question by law to bring up in the work interview why it acceptable in application forms.

Wouldn’t an organic process be submitting a Portfolio/CV and being picked on the merit of a candidates ability of their portfolio, rather than a scenario where the portfolio was good, but their hendered because the candidate didn’t tick the box in the sexual orientation.
  • They really need to contextualise this better - so may job applications now go through an AI process and there is very little transparency in the selection proces that it's easy to assume it's a filtering device and too easy to absuse. Inviting appicants to provide information seperatly through some kind of blind polling would be better.
  • i know what you mean - im looking also and some questions on the job application included the type of school i attended and whether i had free school meals.

Never understood the reason for this.
