At a glance:
  • Salary range - £53,000 - £85,000
  • Expected salary - £53,000- £70,000
  • Contract type There are 2 permanent positions available across John Lewis and Waitrose
  • Working pattern/flexible working - We know flexible working is important to you, and it is important to us too. The Partnership has adopted a blended working approach meaning you'll be able to work a mixture between the office and home based upon your personal needs whilst balancing the needs of the business. The loyalty team aim for around 2 days a week in the office to connect and on a more ad-hoc basis to attend key meetings but again, are flexible on this
  • Location This role is based at our London Head Office campus (the John Lewis role) or Bracknell (the Waitrose role). Please note, any cost incurred as a result of travel to the office is the responsibility of the successful candidate. There is no travel allowance for this role
About the role:
Loyalty is a key part of the business strategy across JLP and is a priority for the Partnership. You’ll be part of a team shaping, delivering the managing the Loyalty proposition and transformation. We are proactively recruiting for 2 Commercial and Planning Senior Managers across Waitrose and John Lewis.
The Loyalty Commercial & Planning Senior Manager will lead all the commercial conversations for Loyalty, leading alignment into integrated planning processes, annual planning for Loyalty including test & learn plan with Commercial, budget and benefit modelling, management and reporting for Loyalty.
What will you be doing?
  • Management of overall loyalty plan, reporting, connecting to finance and business processes, alignment with other loyalty teams within PP, WTR and JL
  • Management and ongoing development of how Loyalty, Commercial and Central Planning functions work together across the activity plan for Loyalty to create a balanced loyalty plan that delivers optimum value for customers and the business. Defining the right WOW and rhythms
  • Represent loyalty as an embedded part of the commercial and planning community including representation in forums
  • Highly commercial and confident working with data and financials, you’ll be confident in defining opportunities and working alongside Commercial and Planning teams and be able to present authentically in this space
  • Leading on continuing to develop our ways of working and processes with Commercial and Central Planning functions across the activity plan for Loyalty and establishing the right WOW and rhythms. You’ll be experienced in trade and commercial planning, enabling you to identify and design how loyalty best works alongside these existing functions
  • Lead the relationships with commercial teams and manage the conversations, establishing the right relationships and aligning on financials and measurement. You’ll be highly experienced in navigating complex commercial conversations
  • Management and ongoing development of how Loyalty, Commercial and Central Planning functions work together across the activity plan for Loyalty to deliver optimum value for customers and the business. Defining the right WOW and rhythms
  • Responsibility for ensuring a robust and compelling loyalty plan is in place with Commercial and across the Loyalty incentive opex plan
  • Ensuring a robust plan in place to deliver Loyalty annual OKRs and benefit targets
  • Alignment with Commercial, Brand and wider Loyalty plans
  • Forecast and manage performance, ensuring budget is well managed and optimised through the year
Essential skills you’ll need:
  • Commercial and Planning SME with advanced understanding of planning and commercial processes and delivery
  • Experience in developing new WOW and bringing together teams from across a complex business
  • Relevant experience working within Customer, Commercial, Planning and Loyalty teams
  • Highly commercial and confident working with commercial modelling and benefit tracking and delivery.
  • Strong data and finance skills
  • Can demonstrate experience of managing large opex budgets
Desirable skills you’ll have:
  • Experience working with complex projects and managing multiple stakeholders to a senior level
