36 Days of Type is a project that invites designers, illustrators and graphic artists to express their particular interpretation of the letters and numbers of the Latin alphabet. A yearly open call exploring the creative boundaries of letterforms, where participants are challenged to design a letter or number each day for 36 consecutive days, as a global and simultaneous act showing the outcome of the ability to represent the same symbols from thousands different perspectives. A project that aims to be a space for creation around typography and its endless graphic possibilities. For each edition, all participants share their artworks via Instagram by uploading their typographic interpretations of each letter and number to their profiles, while using the project’s hashtags plus the daily hashtags to submit their work and enter the challenge. From all the daily entries, a curated selection is handpicked by our team to be published on the 36 Days of Type official account for each day of the challenge up until the end of the edition. In addition, once each official round is over, all the series that have been done during the edition will be also elegible to be showcased in the project accounts throughout the year, as a way to promote the work from the artists involved. Warped Marble Series This was my first entry into the popular typographical project, where my theme explored a continuous tubular motion of each letterform and number. Creative Output I used Adobe Fresco on my iPad Pro to manipulate an isolated marble image to craft and create my letterforms. Each letter was hand drawn and exported to Adobe Photoshop where I added highlights, colour saturation and levelling filters to enhance the overall style of the designs. This created the striking look that proved popular with the wider audience of 36 Days of Type.
