6ENCE

  • Jeanine Celine

6ENCE is an immersive experience that encourages the audience to connect with different senses during a creative endeavour. The project takes the form of a multi-media installation that combines visual elements with sound, touch and smell in order to imitate a synesthetic experience. Synesthesia is a neurological condition in which information meant to stimulate one of the senses, stimulates several of them. The technology behind the project communicates and connects with one another via Raspberry Pi computers. The concept was born from my personal experience as a synesthetic person and from a wish to make people more aware of their senses. The aim of this project is to allow each person to have their own unique experience with it by offering them the chance to be active participants. Each of these encountered experiences is becoming part of a wider sensory orchestra, not only building awareness of our physical senses but helping to construct a shared and empathetic experience in our way of interacting and perceiving our daily existence.
