Agalma - Exploring Nostalgia

  • Roberto Sideris

A project centered around our society's addiction to society, the aim was to make a user consider what items in their life truly meant something to them, and what artifacts were simply paraphernalia. While we focus on the ideas of 're-using' and 'recycling' with the aim of reducing our CO2 footprint, we must realise that we must first 'reduce' how much we consume.

The final result was an urn, both capable of encapsulating a person's ashes while also three objects they (or their family) had decreed as being representative of their self.
These images were created by me to illustrate the process of crafting the urn; the need to express the humility and respect that would be shown when dismantling a person's closely held items.
Further details as well as the accompanying app designed for configuring the urn by a user can be seen by contacting me.
