Amazon Alexa | Pompeii

Droga5’s explosive new spot for Amazon Alexa goes all the way back to the time of the Roman Empire, as the Mount Vesuvius eruption that destroyed the city of Pompeii in 79 AD is reimagined in dramatic detail by Biscuit Filmworks director Andreas Nilsson. Crumbling brimstone and great balls of fire set a chaotic scene in this catastrophic reckoning, as a stampede of toga-wearing townspeople flees for their lives. It’s all observed somewhat nonchalantly by a hapless young father — who’s seeking tips from Amazon’s voice assistant to help his daughter with her homework. We amplified this rather tumultuous spectacle with a score that highlights the truly Biblical nature of the disaster — with thundering brass and a bellowing choir providing a cinematic experience to match the action-packed visuals.
