Aphrodite

The project Aphrodite takes inspiration from Ancient Greek art and deals with the theme of beauty ideals represented by the female form. Deconstructing and re-synthesising famous works of art such as the 'Venus de Milo' and the 'Birth of Venus' by Botticelli, it examines mythological concepts and imagery that have defined the idea of idealised beauty. It comments on their fragility and reimagines them using a contemporary lens through which beauty has no single form. The project Aphrodite was shown at the Free Range Shows exhibition in Truman Brewery in London, as part of the collective exhibition 'New Focus', June 2022.
