Beginning where it all ends

Beginning where it is ends is a publication that delves into the often-feared transitions of life—birth and death—through the unique perspectives of healthcare professionals. By contrasting the roles of a physiotherapist working with the elderly and a midwife assisting with childbirth, the publication highlights the profound beauty and dignity present at both ends of life. It aims to transform fear into understanding, showing that both stages, though vastly different, are interconnected parts of the human experience. To visually support this theme, the publication is designed to mimic the structure of medical notes, with a tabled format on the front covers, reflecting the clinical nature of these professions. The publications features scanned images of both blooming and wilting flowers, alongside leaves in various stages of life, symbolising the delicate balance between new beginnings and the inevitable aging process. This imagery serves as a powerful metaphor for the cycles of life, encapsulating the beauty of both vitality and aging. Attached to the back of both publications is a collection of posters with images and quotes taken from the two interviews, which is carefully held together in a folder.
