Breakpoint 2.0 is a summative follow on from the Fungal Revolution series. Our goal is to respect all organisms no matter how small as they all play a critical role in maintaining our ecosystem. We often relegate fungi to something insentient, invasive and unwanted. Yet it is so resilient and nurturing - one of the first organisms to spring in the wake of the Chernobyl disaster. It can digest plastics, and has incredible properties that designers are manipulating to create biodegradable alternatives to single use plastics. It is intelligent, just not through our anthropocentric lens. I've compared the way fungus takes over its host material to the way we as humans push for progress through revolution. The methods and actions are quite similar. Inspired by Dadaism, and the graphic style of wartime propaganda posters, Breakpoint 2.0 is a call to respect organisms for what they are, rather than how we want them to be. This compassion will go a long way in helping to curb our effects on the climate.
