Catalyst Thinks is a series of events run by The Revels Office, a cultural events and strategy consultancy, for the members of its Catalyst Network. The Revels Office established the Catalyst Network to unite freelancers working in the arts who are committed to keeping the cultural sector relevant and sustainable. The Revels Office and Catalyst Network aim to protect the arts’ freedom to educate, inspire and innovate by channeling revenue and audiences to creative organisations, focusing on the role that arts organisations play in the lives of their audiences, in their local communities and in the sustainability of their own future. Four times a year the Catalyst Network meet to workshop an industry challenge set by a leader in the field. For example, what unites commercial and curatorial departments in arts organisations and how can these teams strengthen one another? What valuable uses are there for cultural content in other sectors? Which arts practice offers the most value to business strategy? Fresh out of the workshop the Catalyst Network members will then share their findings with a panel of experts at an open forum at the RSA. The outcomes are then shared with key industry groups, leaders and influencers to effect change, taking action that supports the arts sector long term.
