Ceremony

A short series captured whilst exploring the Yucatan Peninsula of México. The title was inspired by my discovery of the ancient use of a Copal by the Mayans. Copal, a dried tree resin was burned ceremonially as an offering to the Mayan gods. In many ways the process of shooting and creatively reacting to my surroundings once again after a long hiatus was a ceremonial experience for me, with the Yucatan peninsula representing an offering of subject matter. ceremony /ˈsɛrɪməni/ noun 1. a formal religious or public occasion, especially one celebrating a particular event, achievement, or anniversary. 2. the ritual observances and procedures required or performed at grand and formal occasions
