EDINBURGH, 22nd August 2014 - The Guardian Edinburgh International Television Festival today revealed the winners of the Edinburgh TV Awards (previously Channel of the Year Awards), hosted by John Bishop.
In a ceremony at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre, Channel 4 was named as Channel of the Year, in its first win since 2010. Last year’s award was won by ITV.
Jay Hunt, Chief Creative Officer Channel 4, said "Winning Channel of the Year is the icing on the cake after an amazing 12 months for the channel and a fitting tribute to all the indies who have worked with us to deliver a raft of award winning shows".
In a bumper year for the broadcaster which also saw their Chief Executive deliver the prestigious James MacTaggart Memorial Lecture, Channel 4 also triumphed in TV Moment of the Year for the emotional rollercoaster that was Educating Yorkshire’s Musharaf overcoming his stammer (produced by TwoFour), and won the Programme Innovation Award for The Murder Trial (produced by Windfall Films).
Now in its 13th consecutive year, The Edinburgh TV Awards celebrate the creative, innovative and commercial solutions that broadcasters and production companies present to the British public every year
