Chris Burden: Exposing the museum’s system of power

Chris Burden is mostly known for being a “martyr” in the name of art. With about 50 years of artistic practice, Burden is one of the most controversial and acclaimed artists in art history. His piece “Shoot” (1971) still shocks generations, but when analysing his works, we do understand what a genius he was. A conceptual artist that worked with performance and sculptures to push the limits of whatever he encountered. This is the first blog post as part of The Art Story - Student Ambassador programme. And it is about how Chris Burden explores Institutional Critique in his early performance "Doomed" (1975).
