Courage, Comrades and Community celebrates and commemorates the Durham Light Infantry throughout its long history. It focuses on the lives of the soldiers and civilians associated with the regiment, letting them speak for themselves through the use of personal objects and first-hand accounts. Beginning in 1758 as John Lambton’s 68th Regiment of Foot, the exhibition follows the DLI through some of the most important events in world history. From fighting the armies of Napoleon to helping defeat Hitler, Courage, Comrades and Community uncovers how the actions of the regiment’s soldiers have helped shape the world we know today.
