A publication created with a focus on traditional Indian crafts and how they can be innovated in ways that would prolong their existence and sustain the craftsperson. Made in collaboration with students from Pearl Academy in New Delhi & MMU MA students. For this project I had to learn several traditional indian crafts and attended workshops with masters to understand the route and the craftsmanship. I thought deeply about how could a proposed project still honour and respect the craftspeople and their work. I tested natural dying, embroidery and weaving to name a few and experimented with digital renditions of these things too - truly blending the worlds together. I put together this magazine with help from fellow students, a trend book if you will, trying to illustrate to others in the creative industry how traditional crafts could be persevered and inspiring them to try innovating a traditional craft themselves.
