It is a common idea in fashion sustainability, that clothes which can be used in a multitude of ways is inherently ‘sustainable’, because the wearer might engage with it for a longer period of time.
DARE challenges the notion that garments are considered sustainable, just because they conceptually fulfill a single aspect of the sustainability ideas.
When the need for new stuff arrives, the life of a DARE garment is easily and creatively extended through coloring, tactile changes of surface or change of shape.
However, the change is permanent, so the wearer must decide to let go of the old design, and embrace the new. The item is different, but the fibres are the same.
The garment is finally technically recycled or decomposed by the brand.
DARE is about approaching the never ending desire to own something new, in a way that considers all three aspects of sustainability.
