A fashion/ print project inspired by Russian teatime which started back in the early 19th century. For Russians tea is not only a drink but a lifestyle, a time to be taken out of the day where family gather, enjoyed by all walks of life alike nobody is excluded, this led me to develop my concept eVeRyThInG sToPs FoR tEa. I looked at an object called the Samovar, the essential device for Russian teatime which boils water, Samovar means “ Boils itself”, therefore considering this I looked into feelings boiling over, When life and my emotions start to boil over I like to.. Sketch and replicate my feelings and make a cuppa. My muse and influence is Grayson Perry the artist who documents cultural issues through pottery and creative illustration, this links to my focus on samovars. The garment I will make will for him to wear as his alter ego at tea to de stress from his creative chaotic life. through art and sketching. My garment look takes away from the stresses of life, something that removes the wearer from the stresses of life and allows them to enjoy tea. Everything stops for tea, I have included my own artwork into digital print in order to reference my pastime when I am stressed or life feels like it is boiling over.
