Final Year University Degree Show

The inspiration for my project came from things that are often overlooked such as natural textures, colours and formations found along coastlines. I created a collection of jewellery, hand raised vessels and etched plates exploring clustered barnacle formations and included natural colouring by rusting pieces of metal, like they would have done at sea. I used materials found washed up along the coastline, such as driftwood, which I then incorporated into my pieces. My pieces blur the line between jewellery and sculpture because even though they are functional, they too can sit alone as centre pieces and show people that with a little more focus, we can see the artistry and story of objects that are often unnoticed. I hope that through my work I connect people with their love for the environment and beauty of the natural world around us.
