FUHA — The expression of air

  • Tomomi Maezawa
An exhibition of Fabrica for Daikin Italy with ten different installations, “FUHA — The expression of air” aimed to evoke an intimate relationship with air.
The multi-sensory exhibition emerged from two Japanese onomatopoeic expressions that recall human breath: FU and HA. FU echoes the sound of blowing something to cool it down, while HA evokes the sound of exhaling to warm something up.
My challenge was to design an identity that visually translated this Japanese concept. Observing the subtle movements of paper blown by breath, I created a light and airy typeface that breezily drifts across various neutral-toned applications as if floating through air.
