Grand Korea Leisure Inc. (GKL), which operates foreigner-only casinos in South Korea, said casino sales rose 20.5 percent in June from the previous month.

The news outlet, citing data from the state-run Korea Tourism Organization, showed that only 6,111 foreign tourists visited South Korea in May, compared with more than 1.23 million a year earlier.

GKL is a subsidiary of the Korea Tourism Organization and is affiliated with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Korea.

The casino operator operates three foreigner-only casinos in Korea under the Seven Luck brand, with two in the capital city of Seoul and one in the southern port city of Busan.

GKL's table game sales reached 10.45 billion won in June, up 29.4 percent from 8.08 billion won in May. June sales fell 69 percent from 33.67 billion won in the same month in 2019.

GKL's cumulative casino revenue for the year to June 30 fell 41.1% year-on-year to 133.07 billion won, nearly 226 billion won in the first half of 2019.

Table game sales in the first half of 2020 were 118.14 billion won, down 39.8% from 196.17 billion won in the first half of 2019.

Machine game sales in the first half of 2020 were 14.92 billion won, down nearly 50% from 29.83 billion won in the first half of the year.
