Hurricane relief operations with the UK's task-force

  • Andy Wasley
In September 2017 I deployed to the Caribbean as a media operations officer and photographer for the UK's cross-government task-force, supporting humanitarian aid operations following hurricanes Irma and Maria. My role was to create and use content to reassure people in the region of the UK's ability to deploy aid and support to them. I worked as the leader of a two-man team alongside a professional RAF photographer. I worked with the task-force headquarters to identify and develop story opportunities throughout the region, using social media, traditional press-based PR and innvoative video work to publicise our key messages.
The campaign achieved significant reach across the Caribbean, amplified by British and Caribbean key influencers. My own photography was published by The Times and international media.
