If Not Now Then was conceived by Anne Krinsky and Meike Brunkhorst as a collaborative platform for artists whose practice addresses environmental issues. Whether responding to climate breakdown and its effect on biodiversity, investigating marine pollution or the impact of consumerism on the Global South, working with waste materials or in nature, creative approaches towards a more sustainable future are limitless. We hope to share case studies, success stories and resources, foster connections across borders and disciplines and eventually create opportunities for joint projects and exhibitions to inform, educate and amaze. Big ideas we can only tackle together, one small step at a time. The seed for this idea was part of Anne’s Arts Council England Developing Your Creative Practice Grant and ties in with Meike’s commitment to Culture Declares Emergency. A recent visit to see Dear Earth at the Hayward Gallery prompted us to stop searching for the perfect name and concept and just get started, If Not Now Then…
