Joy - Playing blocks for blind

  • Lianne Siemensma

For children, playing together is an enjoyable activity. Blind children are often the exception. They cannot see the game. They either do not experience the emotions of normally sighted children of the same age at all, or experience them differently, which may be frustrating. Joy improves the interaction between visually impaired children and normally sighted children of the same age. The blocks made from maple wood focus on aspects other than vision, e.g. sound, shape and touch. Joy allows the children to interact as equals. It makes playing together enjoyable for everybody.
