LETS GET MESSHY is a short campaign video about the love and appreciation of the art of embroidery. It elevates the craft and gives the viewer another perspective on an old-fashioned technique. But above all this clip is just fun!
With this humoristic video Anne Vaandrager and Floor Nijdeken present an intimate and slightly erotic interaction between the basic elements of embroidery; mesh, needle and thread. Floor Nijdeken, an Amsterdam based designer, is the founder of Crossover Collective. The Crossover Collective connects people from different backgrounds in a low-tech manner, and makes old crafts fun again.
Floor’s social embroidery table illustrates that it is not scary to have real interaction and take the time to share stories, crafts and knowhow. It’s about sitting down for a moment and being part of a collective textile piece. Anne Vaandrager a London based designer/filmmaker, graduated cum laude from MA Material Futures at Central Saint Martins in 2016. Her work is characterized by irony and sarcasm, to deal with subjects that matter. With her humoristic videos she creates absurd and funny scenarios that can make the viewer slightly uncomfortable. The mutual sense of humor between Anne and Floor resulted in this 'tongue and cheek' video.
