In June 2016 we travelled to Cuba visiting the sites of Havana Trinidad, Cienfuegos and Varadero. The rustic charms of Havana still remain and we wanted to capture the old history before it all changes. Trinidad is a magical place full of bright colour around every street corner with snippets of broken tiles, decaying man made surfaces with contrasting patterns. Cuba is surface designer's dream as there is so much to see and record through drawing and photography.
The Mix ‘n’ Match 17 wallpaper collection introduces three new patterns, Havana, Obrapia and Trinidad. We took so many interesting photos in Cuba and we wanted to include these within the final collection. Combining photography and Illustrator we designed three new wallpaper patterns which reflect the imperfect beauty of Cuba.
