  • Alessandro Novelli

Animation, Commercial, Direction

About the project:

This commissioned video by NPR, explores the most common bullets in use in the USA and their effects;
"Not all bullets are created equal. Even rounds that look similar, or are similar in size, can cause dramatically different wounds. We explore the science behind how speed, mass and shape can make some bullets more destructive than others."
My task was to direct and animate the video according to NPR script, guidelines and VO.

Technique:

The video is a blend of 2D and 3D animation,  developed in different softwares and then painted and lighted in Photoshop frame by frame. The ballistics testing and footage were created by H.P. White Laboratory, Inc..

Where:
The video was commissioned by NPR for their  Lets Talk series, website and youtube channel. The original video is available on NPR youtube channel.
