Orca - Britvic
Britvic wanted us as a group to design a service that is simple and convenient to consumers and improves recycling rates of plastic bottles. With this opportunity comes the hope of both benefiting the environment and setting a standard for other organisations to change their ways and outlook on plastic bottle recycling overall.
Hunt Statement:
Explore the behaviours of the general public with plastic bottles after purchase in convenience settings to provide a solution to the amounts of plastic waste generated.
Research Insights:
- Despite people wanting to recycle, a lot of the time it is inconvenient due to having to go out of their way.
- By giving enough reward and making the service easy and convenient, it will appeal and empower those with busy schedules that are pressed for time.
BritConnect App - The BritConnect app is the bridge between the BritBin and the user. Allowing them to dispose of their used plastic bottles in return for points. These points are then stored on the app until the user has enough to claim their free drink.
BritBin - The BritBin utilises product scanning to avoid contamination of the waste which was one of the major issues Britvic had with other potential concepts.
