Paperjam workshops

Our unique Paperjam workshops give designers, print buyers, students and publishers a lively introduction to the art of print and how creative print design can create beautiful and effective publications. What we’ll cover: Artwork – what your printer will need from you and best way to supply it to make sure you get a perfect reproduction from your design Print processes – learn about digital printing, litho offset printing, riso printing, screen printing and how to choose which will work best for your project Papers – we look at printed paper samples and discuss how they can be used (including speciality papers made from seaweed or nutshells!) Binding – explore different binding techniques including saddle-stitched, thread-sewn, perfect bound, rivet binding, leporello and more Finishes – learn about different finishes such as foiling, embossing/debossing, die-stamping, etc Environment – discuss different processes and materials to consider to make your publication as environmentally responsible as possible. Group size: Between 5 and 10 students for Paperjams hosted at Calverts, between 5 and 30 students for Paperjams hosted at your college or campus. Workshop length: Two hours Venue: We can come to your college or campus to deliver a Paperjam workshop within Greater London. Or groups of up to 10 can visit us (and receive a free tour of our printing presses!) We are based at 9-10 The Oval, London E2 9DT. The nearest stations are Cambridge Heath and Bethnal Green. We regret that our office is not currently wheelchair accessible. Please note: we are a working printshop and design studio so it is essential to book your Paperjam with us in advance, we can’t host groups at no notice.
