Petrichor

  • Dominika Fojtikova

A washed-up, former wunderkind of the snooker world has one last chance to revive his career. Battling with addiction and the ghosts of his past, is there more at stake than just the score? Starting Paul Kaye & Clive Russell. The short film has been part-funded by BFI NETWORK / Film London and supported by the Mental Health Foundation. The film is completed and has a festival run planned in 2020. Meanwhile, director Louis-Jack and writer Kenneth Emson are developing a feature version of the film. For the design, the main focus was on finding the right typeface that will represent the sports theme and old school with a modern way that the film is shot. For the Petrichor name, we decided to go with Ayer Poster Blackletter Black Italic. The typeface was strong enough to be a title. It is a modern typeface with a classical, crafted twist. As a complementary font that is used also in credits, we send for Gothia Serif which perfectly compliments the Ayer Poster Blackletter Black Italic. For the poster we decided to used the hero image and put it vertically to show the different perspectives the film is touching.
