Independent restaurant group's second restaurant launch. Story Pondi serves up a unique blend of French and Indian cooking philosophies, tucked away down a cul-de-sac in the heart of Hong Kong's creative neighbourhood Sai Ying Pun. Its warmth and energy spills out onto its candlelit terrace giving it a magical vibe that you won't find anywhere else in the city. To launch a new restaurant you have to be timely and targeted against a sea of competition. Independent restaurants are a rare breed in the city and if they do exist, they're up against large group chains with even larger marketing budgets. We decided to put the safety of customers first and delayed our launch several times while the city was on lockdown, but through open and honest communication, we've experienced an incredibly successful launch thanks to growing support from fellow foodies who were prepared to ride out the storm with us.
