REBORN // Final Collection

  • Tasarla Lagan

Reborn takes inspiration from Ladette and Festival culture. It wraps lost nostalgic memories into wearable garments; whilst conveying the boisterous and provocative feminine demeanor of a Ladette. I have consciously reworked discarded tents to give them a new lease of life, it brings an essence of make do and mend but in a modern, fun approach. Personal photography appears throughout my research to help me connect with the concept to portray a solid vision. I was initially inspired by the study of various opposing feminine stereotypes and how society has had a significant impact on their social conformities. In relation to the festival culture I decided to pick one stereotype that related best to the image of a stereotypical female festival-goer; that of a Ladette. Confident with low body modesty, boisterous and loud, provocative, whilst engaging in heavy drinking sessions, the fundamental characteristics of a male - it seemed like the perfect match. Alike most youngsters, festivals are an integral part of my summer break, but almost everyone I have attended the majority of people forget to be responsible whilst having fun; leaving lots of materials behind for organisers to deal with. Therefore I have decided to combine all these points of inspiration to produce a cocktail of components to create my responsible collection that I have named REBORN.
