Scallies; chavs; neds – these are all regional variations used across Britain to describe aggressive, anti-social, working class men with a penchant for tracksuits and trainers.

In the early-to-mid 2000s they were at the centre of a moral panic but they have also become a popular fetish in the gay underground. I wrote a long form investigative feature on this phenomenon which was published in the annual VICE Fashion Issue for 2014.
Since then, this look has gone mainstream through brands like Cottweiler and Astrid Andersen, but few know its origin story. Well, here it is and I'm quite proud of it. Click here for the full article
