The collection, ‘Scandi Flora’ explores form, shape, pattern and design styles, through painting and drawing from online glossaries of Scandinavian flowers. The collection has two sub-collections, one for domestic bedroom settings and a kitchen fabric/dinnerware collection, aimed at companies such as Graham and Brown and House of Hackney. Using a range of illustrative starting points, Scandi Flora features a large collection of flowers and plants native to Scandinavia. Gouache and fine liners were applied as a base for initial drawings and paintings, the artwork was formed by creating large painted compositions and drawn floral bouquets. Collections have been inspired by a broad range of designers including Natasha Coverdale, Josef Frank and Sarah Gordon for their painterly styles and print qualities. Pigment screen printing made up a large proportion of the sampling process, with a final piece being a two-metre registered printed fabric drop. Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and AVA were used to create all designs.
