The project Sete Palheiras is born from the desire to revitalize and enhance the characteristic straw craft of the municipality of Fafe, a small town in the north of Portugal . The unifying element of the regional cultural identity, this type of craft is currently facing a serious risk of discontinuation. This way it seems increasingly necessary to safeguard, enhance, and disseminate this piece of cultural heritage. Through multimedia practices and Web technologies, we seek to explore the many potential and possibilities of both the technic and the material and know the stories of the people behind the straw crafts.
