Simon Johnson (pictured), senior vice president and managing director of international at casino technology firm Light & Wonder Inc (L&W), said the growing use of so-called "smart tables" for traditional casino table games in Macau markets and elsewhere has given the industry the potential for player data acquisition as well as game security. He told GGRASIA on Tuesday.

Electronic game consoles (EGMs), including electronic table games offered by Light & Wonder and market rivals (including fully automated or live dealers), are already recognized for their ability to make high numbers of decisions per hour and generate bets and betting settlements without errors.

Speaking on the growth of traditional table 'smart' play, Mr Johnson said: "We have to take this into account when we think about the development roadmap and the future of the table."

Nevertheless, making data collection and data-driven gaming a trend in Asia-Pacific and beyond is an opportunity for the industry as a whole, the executive noted.

He said: "What the smart table concept has started to change the game is that it significantly increases the kind of data and information that operators can receive about what's going on at that [specific] table, how players play, and the situation information improves exponentially.

"And we're starting to deliver better quality data than we see in EGM or slot machines," he noted.

Mr. Johnson said the potential of these technologies should not distract the industry. The latter role was to bring entertainment to consumers.

"What people [consumers and operators] are looking for is a well-thought-out, well-organized game that understands player preferences, looks at how people stake, how people play, how they're drawn to different jackpots and progressives," he observed. 바카라사이트 추천

In terms of Asia-Pacific markets, Macau is "an immensely important place" for Light & Wonder, while the Philippines, which is now growing in terms of venues and game console deployments, will "always be important," Johnson says.

"The challenge in places like Asia is not to focus too much on big markets and make sure that all markets are well served," he added. "Of course, you have to serve your customers and understand exactly what they need and implement them ahead of time on these requirements."

Earlier this month, Light & Wonder reported that sales in its gaming division in Asia and Australia boosted sales in the first quarter.
