Supporting Abu Dhabi’s digital transformation with a new website experience, and a scalable design system for increased government performance.

Department of Health - Abu Dhabi is the regulative body of the Healthcare Sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Upon joining Brunswick Group’s design team, they had already collaborated with the Abu Dhabi Government, delivering services and building ecosystems for the ADG website. Brunswick’s plan to upgrade the existing ADG applications was to create a new website experience and visual language, that represents the Department of Health as a modern and pioneering health authority. I helped them to consolidate DoH’s value proposition in a clear statement to communicate with the public, healthcare professionals, tourists, investors and the press.

When I was onboarded with this project, the Design Director already defined some of the primary foundations (typography, colour palette, grids…) - the UX Designer started with the website wireframes.
My first task was to design the homepage (English and Arabic) and also to create and develop user-interface designs and design foundations.
As I was developing the user-interface and having worked closely with the UX Designer, I was able to challenge some of the functionalities summarised on the on the wireframes.
Working side by side with the Design Director, we created a component library which was documented by the UX Designer. We participated in meetings to provide guidance and help developers implement the components in a bespoke CMS system, which can now be easily expanded as the ADG department base grows.
