I’m fascinated by the natural world, in particular varieties of bugs, butterflies and the habits they live in. In 2017, I came to the UK to continue my studies in Footwear Design one of my first observations was that there are fewer insects compared to my country of Hungary. I grew up close to Budapest, as a child spent a lot of time with my grandparents exploring the natural world from a city environment. There was a decent number of bug even though we were in a capital city. According to recent studies, “the world’s insects are hurtling down the path to extinction, threatening a catastrophic collapse of nature’s ecosystems. My goal was to give spotlight for insects, as fashion has the power to highlight various issues and to raise awareness of the conservation and the beauty of nature and natural materials. The Footwear collection aimed to “reinvent” a biodegradable material by using waste by experimenting and making my own fish leather. I believe the change for the Footwear industry; what we take from nature could return to nature.
